Established in 1973 as Greenwich School of Management, the college is the largest alternative provider without Degree Awarding Powers specialising in widening participation from Level 3 to 7 making it one of the most established AP’s in the UK.

Pro-Provost Student Experience & External Enagagement
An Executive member of the College Leadership Team sitting within Academic Management and working closely with the Pro-Provost Executive Dean, responsible for all aspects outside of the curriculum, including Careers & Employability, Student Support and Engagement, Wellbeing, Student Finance, Alumni and Development.Working closely with the Academic Registrar as well as the Director of Recruitment & Marketing.
- Established a Clear strategy for the Student Experience within the College.
- Established and Chair the following commitmees: Student Insights & Student Enhancement
- Establishled a new Professional Student Experience team Structure to be much more Student Focused
- Devloped and Implementated College Wide Student Communications Strategy
- Lead for the College regarding external engagement for the Student Experience
- Developed a new approach to the Employability Skills Award, ensuring that the model is opt out as opposed opt in as well as being Two Tiered.
- Leading on a Transformation project to develop a high performance culture.
- Led on the establishment of the Students Union within the college, ensuring necessary regulatory framework and policy adherence.
- Led on recruiting the First Saabatical Officer (President) for the College. An important appointment for the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Higher Education Review visit in September 17.
- Led on Senior Staff as well as Student Experience aspects of the QAA HER visit including necessary preparation for the SED.
- Lead Liasion with Plymouth regarding NSS and other Student Insights
- Developed and Introduced new initatives to aid student retention, resulting in better attendance and progression

Director of Student Experience
Responsible for over 250 Staff with a budget of several millions. Led on all aspects of enhancing student life and experience including the Strategic direction for the Career Development Service, Sports and Recreation and Student Support Services.Working closely with the Academic skills Development team and Head of Library Services. The Student Experience in additional to academic teaching and learning is paramount to Universities being successful in developing curious lifelong learners.
- Established a clear Vision for the Student Experience.
- Led on and Developed a high performance culture within the division.
- Developed and introduced new Student Support, Counselling and Wellbeing Service processes, to ensure a much more proactive provision delivered to students
- Developed University wide Student Communication Strategy “Make the Most of You”.
- Established a Clear strategy for Sports & Recreation to aid the Student Experience and positioning within the British Universities and College league.
- Responsible for the National Student Survey (NSS) within the University.
- Led on the Development of a Student App to help Student Satisfaction.
- Led and developed an activity to aid NSS turn around called the Fabolous First Year.

- Created new Student Journey activities to help retain and progress students. This work led to national recognition.

Responsible for the leadership, strategic development and deployment of The Career Development Service activities related to Student Success and Positive Graduate outcomes by increasing graduate employment or further study
- Established a clear Institutional Employability Strategy and associated Vision.
- Developed and introduced a Transferable Skills Framework with intended learning outcomes resulting in better comprehension for students of how graduate employers use these skills in selection processes.
- Built new professional Career development service team resulting in significant improvements in professionalism and level of service provision to over 8000 unique students.
- Established 6 monthly internally focussed “Employability Summits” to ensure Academic Departments play a prominent role in realising the Strategy and Vision of Employability. The highlight being the creation of Employability Partnership Agreements with all departments of the University.
- Developed and introduced a new Initiative called the Undergraduate Internship Promise a first for a Top 20 UK University offering all students the chance to participate during their course of study.
- Established Employer Advisory Board, featuring some of the leading Global Employers and Leaders to aid the strategic thinking of the Leicester initiatives to realise the Career Development Strategy and associated Vision.
- Developed and introduced a clear Student development Journey with a simple message to participate and engage “Make the Most of You”.
- Created a new award for the Industry in partnership with The National Graduate Recruitment Awards Team (GTI) to recognise the Advancement of Social Mobility in Graduate recruitment to position Leicester as a leader in this field.
- Established a series of Exchanges on Social Mobility with panel debates featuring some of the UK’s leading employers (Teach First, Barclays, Norton Rose Fulbright and Enterprise rent-a-car).
- Highly Commended by Graduate Employers for the much acclaimed Policy of “No Prep No Entry” for the Festival of Careers (Autumn Careers Fair).
- Shortlisted Twice, by THE regarding outstanding support for students 2013 & 2014.
- Led the University for the very first time to feature in the Top 25 most targeted list by Times Top 100 Employers.
- Led the University to win several awards including Best overall Strategy for Work readiness as well as best single initative for work preparation.

HR Business Partner – Functional Units
Responsible to deliver and lead on a number of transformational programmes’s throughout the Functions, working with external partners such as Deloitte, Accenture, Roland Berger and Booze and Co to ensure efficiency was gained whilst not compromising Human Capital. In addition, responsible to develop the strategic HR direction of the Functional Units, with the Functional Unit Head’s (11 in total and all direct reports of the Group CEO & CFO) and their senior teams to ensure that the most effective people strategy was deployed regarding, recruitment, reward, development, succession and retention.
Accountable for but not limited to:
- Maintained and developed the people strategy, and priorities for all functions.
- Delivered and led a senior level HR service including management succession and development working closely with the Resourcing & Development Centre of Expertise.
- Led on the roll-out of companywide change programme entitled “Critical Behaviours”.
- Led on reward needs for management population within the functions, including some harmonisation from TUPE employees.
- Led on and solved Critical employee engagement issues.
- Ensure effective Links were maintained to HR Service centre (shared service) and Centres of Expertise to ensure the needs of the Functions were met.
- Developed and led on a number of Team coaching activities, resulting in better working teams increasing productivity.
- Shared the delivery of business KPI’s to ensure that RWE npower were positioned effectively and appropriately to compete in this highly competitive marketplace.
- Led the People Work related to the Finance transformation Programme which resulted in operational efficiency with a lower cost base and greater emphasis on recruiting, developing and retaining key talent.

Project Beacon – Transformation of HR Function
During 2010 RWE npower embarked upon a group wide organisational restructure with a key focus to gain cost efficiency and organisational effectiveness with key business performance indicators. Each Performance Unit and Functional unit had been streamlined and each had a set of KPI’s to deliver. Part of this process included HR and within that led on the behaviour workstream that RWE npower would need to embrace in order to meet the newly created KPI’s to ensure organisational success.
Phase one was successfully completed with a set of cost initiatives being identified as well as dove tailing the behavioural changes into the company wide initiative “critical behaviours”, the catalyst that would be used to bring about Cultural change within RWE npower.

Head of Graduate Schemes
Responsible for the leadership, strategic development and deployment of schemes. Schemes include Engineering, HR, General Business Management, IS, Risk Analysis and Finance.
- In 2007, led RWE npower into the Times Top 100 Graduate Employers list for the very first time and repeated in 2008, 2009 & 2010, 2011.
- Established a clear end to end resourcing strategy ensuring core RWE competencies being measured through the improvement of assessment and selection processes resulting in a better selection pool of graduates.
- Built new professional Graduate recruitment and development team resulting in significant improvements in professionalism and level of service provision to the business.
- Developed and Introduced new branding for execution on UK campuses, as well as online and offline media.
- Developed and Introduced Graduate strategy aligned to business strategy by identifying career paths for all graduate schemes as well as key talent from the graduate intake.
- Established Graduate Program Board to aid appropriate succession planning for graduates. Program Board is comprised of senior stakeholders including RWE npower CEO.
- Developed and introduced a graduate development programme focused on developing intrapersonal and interpersonal skills.
- Developed training for scheme stakeholders to ensure effective PDP’s were formulated for the duration of each graduate placement during the schemes.
- Established the RWE npower graduate summer school, including commitment from other O.C.’s (RWE Rhein Ruhr & RWE Power) to participate in the training delivered at RWE centre in Wanderwrath, Germany.
- Established the bi-annual University Career Heads dinner, co-hosted by 2 RWE npower board members.
- Established effective strategic relationships with key Universities, throughout UK and Ireland through various initiatives including internships, scholarships, sponsorship, presentations, and skill’s workshops and attending milkrounds.
- Created the award winning Innovation on Campus Energy Challenge competition for Universities judged by the RWE npower board of directors.
- Created the Future Leaders Competition for Universities, prizes included trips to Antarctica and the North Pole to look at Climate Change issues.
- Co-Founder of Undergraduate of the Year Competition with GTI.
- Developed and delivered development centres for graduates on completion of the schemes including effective tools to map their careers.

Recruitment Manager
Responsible for leading recruitment, training and development, resourcing strategy development and deployment, succession planning and team development for South-East England Group, including admission of graduates onto a Fast Track Management Training Scheme. Supported and guided senior management including UK and European Board on University initiatives.
- Involved in an organisational review on UK Strategy including appointing a new Recruitment Advertising Agency which led to the devising of the new enterprise branding called “Come Alive”.
- Developed and introduced the UK Training Manual, to aid graduates L & D experience and increase retention, to support their on the job learning experience.
- Built relationships with key Universities to aid successful attraction of graduates and establish enterprise as an employer of choice for graduates.
- Established a companywide employee referral scheme resulting in greater retention of key talent.
